The word “Jumbie” can also mean ‘mischievious ghost’. On South Shore Road on St. Croix we have a lot of reckless drivers hurtling toward the casino, who often get into accidents under the watchful eyes of guinea hens, ani birds, cattle egrets, domestic chickens and great herons, all of whom are represented in this mask – perhaps a talisman against mash-ups.
